Presently the government limits the amount an individual can donate to a non-profit but doesn't punish those who make excessive political contributions. Do the two seem unrelated? Maybe not.

On one hand you have hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of political contributions, which is illegal, being ignored. Why, because the same system made it punishable by a few thousand dollars in fines. So, the money keeps on flowing. On the other hand, you have a system by which non-profits must beg and compete with each other for funds from Foundations and wealthy donors with their own set of priorities. What this does is create a system by which the wealthy can dictate or influence two sections of society. If balance is the key, then this sure isn't it.

What if business were able to donate to local nonprofits as they see fit? In fact, what if businesses where untaxed by how much good they contribute to society. What if, instead of a capitalistic concept of valuing human energy (money); we valued the human potential.
